Casper's Adoption

Casper came to us at the end of July with heat exhaustion, covered in fleas, a severe skin condition, and severe dental disease. He was thrown out of a car at the end of a dead in road in the middle of the woods. It took us a couple days to pin down a location he was frequenting and trap him. He was so scared when he came to the rescue. We took him to the vet and had him examined. Vaccines were given and a separate appointment was made for his neuter and dental. The veterinarian called me in the middle of his dental to inform me that Casper was going to have to have a full mouth extraction. He had 39 teeth removed due to advanced dental disease. Three of his teeth had already rotted out. Those three teeth were so severely infected that the infection spread to his jawbone, causing a fracture. The veterinarian wanted to see Casper back in two weeks to take more x-rays and determine if he would need surgery to repair the jaw fracture. He was put on antibiotics that would hopefully rid him of the infection in his jawbone. After his mouth healed, we went back to the vet, and he had the x-rays. We were overjoyed to learn that the antibiotics had worked in riding him of the infection and the jawbone fracture had started to heal. Casper would not need surgery to correct the fracture. After the good news, we called his adoptive mother and told her that we could proceed with the adoption. Casper was adopted September 29, 2024.
