He had a very poor prognosis upon arrival. We brought him home and treated his skin condition and coccidia with veterinary assistance. We did physical therapy and started him on a proper diet to correct his malformed back legs. He was soon able to use his back legs properly. Chewy quickly became a daddy's boy. In April of 2023 he was diagnosed with chronic pancreatitis and has since been put on a special diet to help prevent attacks. About Voiceless Moments Dog Sanctuary
What We Do
Due to the increasing need for assistance with the stray and abandoned dog population in our service area, we have implemented a structured approach to intake these animals, focusing on their specific needs and circumstances.
We evaluate each case individually, allowing us to provide the most appropriate care and support for the dogs that come to us. For dogs that weigh under 25 pounds, we take them into our home to ensures that these smaller dogs receive the attention and resources they require without delay. At our home we are equipped to handle their needs, providing them with a safe and nurturing environment.
For dogs that exceed 25 pounds, we recognize that they may benefit from a more personalized approach, which is why we have developed a robust foster network. This network consists of caring families who are dedicated to providing temporary homes for these larger dogs. By placing them in foster homes, we can ensure that they receive the socialization and individual care that helps them thrive while they await their forever homes.
Our foster families play a crucial role in helping us manage the intake of larger dogs. They provide a loving environment where these dogs can adjust and be assessed for adoption suitability. This not only helps with the dogs’ overall well-being but also allows us to match them effectively with potential adopters once they are ready for adoption.
Through this case-by-case approach, we aim to address the critical issue of stray and abandoned dogs in our community. By tailoring our intake procedures to the size and specific needs of each dog, we can enhance their chances of finding loving, permanent homes while also promoting responsible pet ownership within our community. We encourage community members to support our efforts, whether by volunteering, fostering, or adopting, all of which contribute to our mission of improving the lives of these deserving animals.

Our History
Voiceless Moments Dog Sanctuary stands as a beacon of hope for dogs in need, especially those with medical disabilities and senior dogs. Founded by Charlee, whose unwavering passion for animal welfare ignited this journey, the sanctuary blossomed from over two decades of experience. Charlee, an Army veteran, and family started rescuing animals themselves in 2011. In 2014 Charlee volunteered with a local rescue in Stewart County.
Driven by a desire to provide specialized care, Charlee and her family made the profound decision to create a dedicated haven for these vulnerable animals. Achieving 501c3 status in January of 2024, Voiceless Moments not only gained legal recognition but also opened the door to greater community support.
The mission is simple yet powerful: to offer a safe and loving environment for dogs facing challenges due to age or health issues. Each animal that finds refuge here is embraced with a lifelong commitment, embodying the sanctuary's core value of compassion. Every dog receives the medical attention and love they deserve, ensuring they experience a nurturing life.
Specializing in small dogs, Voiceless Moments creates a secure space where these precious pets can thrive. Larger dogs in need are placed in a network of caring foster families, reflecting a collaborative spirit that amplifies the sanctuary's reach and impact.
In taking on strays and abandoned animals, Voiceless Moments confronts the pressing issue of animal neglect head-on. By partnering with local veterinary services, they assess the health of each dog, diligently working to find loving families for those deemed healthy.
Through their dedication to these often-overlooked animals, Voiceless Moments Dog Sanctuary and Rescue inspires hope and advocates for a world where every dog is valued. The sanctuary's work invites the community to join this noble cause, fostering a collective impact that transforms lives and creates brighter futures. Charlee and her family shine brightly in their commitment to ensuring that no dog is forgotten or left voiceless.
